In 2011 Fletcher Building introduced a global employee share plan that allows eligible employees to participate in the ownership of the business. The scheme allows eligible employees to decide how much of their wages or salary they want to contribute from each pay, within prescribed minimum and maximum levels. After employees have been in the scheme for a set period of time, and subject to certain conditions, they become entitled to award shares that the company contributes. In May 2012 FBuShare was awarded “Best New Employee Share Plan” by Employee Ownership Australia and New Zealand.
